Take your script to Hollywood. No, really…
Writer Doug Chamberlin (TOY STORY 2) knows a thing or two about working in Hollywood. He was there for the best part of 20 years and has worked with the likes of Steven Spielberg, Robert De Niro and John Landis. But before that, he was just a regular writer like you or I.
So how did Doug make the transition from regular Joe to flavour of the month in La-la land? Well, actually, it was pretty much as you’d expect; a lot of blood, sweat, tears and serious persistence. That’s why he created his seminar, Mastering Hollywood; so that writers wishing to take their scripts to LA will have the serious edge that he never had when he was starting out.
I must admit, I was a little sceptical when I first heard the premise for the seminar. After all, isn’t there an extremely lucrative industry that has arisen from making hopeful writers believe that they can crack that mystical outpost known as Hollywood if only they would read X book, take X course or sign up to X newsletter? But then I met Doug, who debunked some of the Hollywood mythology and talked with such simple sincerity about the seminar and it’s contents that I was moved to say, “OK, let’s do it!”
Hollywood is its own planet. Understand its laws and you are far better placed to become a resident.
The seminar takes place over two days in June. For more information, and to book, please click here. I promise that you won’t be disappointed.
