From 4Talent to Future 500…

The lovely Vicki Psarias was movieScope’s very first One to Watch director back in 2007. At the time, she’d just picked up a 4Talent award for her short film ‘Broken’, which starred Michelle Collins and Peter Polycarpou and centred on one Cypriot family’s immigration to 1960s London.

Since then, Vicki’s worked on all kinds of projects, including a documentary for Ten Alps, a promo for the English National Opera, music videos for up and coming indie bands and web dramas for Social Care TV.

Now, Vicki has been listed for not one, but two illustrious honours; she’ll be part of the Courvoisier Future 500 list, judged by the Observer Magazine, which highlights rising stars in film, media, the arts and other disciplines. She’s also been shortlisted for Red Magazine’s Red Hot Women Awards, which is judged by the likes of Sarah Brown!

If there’s one thing I really admire about Vicki (though there are many), it’s her amazing ability to sell herself and her work. Spending time with her in Cannes this year was like watching a networking masterclass. It was also a lot of fun…

Watch and learn, aspiring filmmakers!
