Dustin Hoffman To Make Directorial Debut
At 72 years old Dustin Hoffman has a hugely successful acting career, including classics like The Graduate, Midnight Cowboy and Straw Dogs, and has become a living legend in Hollywood. Now, it seems, Hoffman is to follow in the footsteps of fellow living legend Clint Eastwood and is to direct his first feature film.
Industry reports indicate that the star in in talks to take the helm of Quartet, a film based on the 1999 play about an English retirement home for opera singers, for BBC Films. Dame Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay and Albert Finney have apparently already signed up to star in the film, which has been written by Oscar-winning The Pianist scribe Ronald Harwood.
