In an indication of Wright’s profile in Hollywood, Collider will be co-produced by Hollywood mogul J.J. Abrams – who directed the last two Mission Impossible films – and co-scripted by top scribe Mark Protosevich – who was has just adapted Chan-wook Park’s South Korean classic Old Boy for Spike Lee’s American version, as well as creating the script I Am Legend for Will Smith.
Wright is producing with his longtime Big Talk Productions partner Nira Park. J.J. Abrams is attached through his Bad Robot banner. Casting is yet to be confirmed, reports Deadline.
Collider is just the latest project in a remarkable two year stretch for Wright since he took his solo feature Scott Pilgrim vs the World to Comic Con in 2010.
As well as scripting The Adventures of Tin Tin for Steven Spielberg, he is currently working on the Marvel’s latest live-action project Ant-Man with Attack the Block director Joe Cornish, as well as The World’s End, his latest collaboration with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
On top of that, he has the little matter of directing Disney-financed project The Night Stalker, a big-screen reboot of the 1970s TV movie that will star and be produced by Johnny Depp
Wright made his big screen debut Shaun of the Dead after collaborating Simon Pegg on the Channel 4 sitcom Spaced. He went on to make Hot Fuzz with Pegg, while contributing to Quentin Tarantino’s homage to exploitation cinema Grindhouse with the short film Don’t.
