Twickenham Studios to install £1.6m of post-production equipment

Twickenham Studios has played host to film shoots including The Iron Lady, My Week With Marilyn and Elizabeth: The Golden Age, but was threatened with closure this June.

Twickenham Studios is planning to install $1.6m worth of post-production filming equipment by spring in an attempt to be the most “up-to-date, highly equipped studio in the country,” according to Chief Operating Officer Maria Walker, who spearheaded the campaign to save the company from closure.

Walker was instrumental in securing investment from the property magnate Sunny Vohra which proved pivotal in saving the debt-saddled studios from closure in June, which has played host to film shoots including The Iron LadyMy Week With Marilyn and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

She announced at an event in London last night that the studios had acquired three new mixing consoles – including two DFC Geminis – for each of the studio’s theatres, to go with the 3D projectors and Dolby Atmos surround sound for one of its theatres.

The studios are also building three television mixing rooms and one grading suite, and will refurbish the changing, hair and make-up rooms.

The studios have also recently brought two new engineers, one sound team member,  a sales manager and public relations representative onto the team, and hope to improve the company’s social media presence and industry-profile by attending events like the forthcoming American Film Market.
