From 12 to 20 January 2013, successful applicants will meet at the Château Mercier in the town of Sierre in the Canton of Valais for an intensive focus on how best to schedule and budget European feature films in 2.5 to 10 million Euro range.
Production Value is looking for applications from Junior Line Producers and Assistant Directors, as well as projects in development by producers.
Emphasis will be placed on understanding different working conditions across Europe, and on the best practical and creative solutions to overcome challenges.
Working in teams of two, Junior Line Producers and Junior Assistant-Directors will be assigned real projects in development, brought to the workshop by their Directors and Producers, before being coached by top-level European Line Producers and 1st Assistant-Directors.
Directors and Producers of the projects play an important part in the process: they join the workshop towards the end to discuss the various concepts, options and results.
The last Production Value workshop – which took place in Malta in January this year – attracted 32 film professionals from 16 European countries.
Senior professionals to offer leadership at Malta included British Senior Assistant Director Stuart Renfrew, whose credits include Bridget Jones’s Diary, and the Spanish Senior Assistant Director David A. Martinez, whose credits include Bad Education and Knight and Day.
Applicants will benefit from reduced participation fees for independent technicians. Production Value will also offer four scholarships to participants from one of the twelve new EU member states – Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia – or from Croatia or from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The training workshop is in partnership with by Switzerland’s FOCAL, the Swedish Film Institute, the Austrian Film Institute and the Norwegian Film Institute and supported by MEDIA Training and the Canton of Valais (Switzerland).
