The announcement comes just a month after DreamWorks Animation signed a distribution deal with Twentieth Century Fox after ending its agreement with distributor Paramount Pictures.
Sequels and spin-offs include Kung Fu Panda 3, opening March 18, 2016, How to Train Your Dragon 2 released June 20, 2014, How to Train Your Dragon 3 released June 18, 2016, and The Penguins of Madagascar, released March 27, 2015.
New distributor Fox will be given the task of balancing the rush of DreamWorks Animation releases with the film releases of their own in-house animation department Blue Sky, which will include a sequel to Rio and new film Epic, the story of a teenage girl transported to a secret universe.
Other films on the Dreamworks slate include Turbo, The Croods, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Me and My Shadow, Happy Smekday! and B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations.
