The British star of The Warrior, Bronson and The Dark Knight Rises founded the idea for a drama based around animal-trafficking after former Special Forces operative friends became anti-poaching fighters in South Africa and other nations.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be structured in a way similar to Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic - a multi-story movie about the impacts of the war on drugs – with the film examining a range of strands including the ground war on poachers in Africa to how animal skins and furs end up in the fashion houses of Paris.
At present, the producers are not expected to act in the movie but this could change once the scripts are written. Film bosses are currently looking for a writer for the project.
Hardy and DiCaprio previously appeared together in Christopher Nolan’s Inception, while DiCaprio and Maguire are longterm friends that have rarely worked together. They both star in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.
