Bollywood’s biggest independent studio has offered its slate to South African cinema, it was announced in the South African Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival today.
South Africa’s biggest Bollywood cinema chain Avalon Group has signed a slate deal with India’s largest independent Bollywood studios Yash Raj Studios.
Co-founded in 1939 by the late AB Moosa, The Avalon Group remains South Africa’s largest and oldest independent cinema exhibition and entertainment company, and was recently selected as one of South Africa’s top three film and entertainment companies.
Son of Mr Moosa and now Avalon Group CEO AB Moosa Jnr said: “We envisage the slate of films from Yash Raj will prove to be blockbusters. Each has a top Bollywood star, including Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan.
The Avalon Group is part of the South African delegation in Cannes, hosted by the National Film and Video Foundation and the Department of Arts and Culture.
