The independent production jOBS, a biopic of the late co-founder of Apple Steve Jobs, has cast John Getz and Lesley Ann Warren as the adoptive parents of the youthful Jobs, played by Ashton Kutcher.
James Woods, the star of Crash, The Secretary and Videodrome, will also join the project, along with Ron Eldard, star of Sleepers, Super 8 and House of Sand and Fog.
An impressive ensemble cast already includes Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, Matthew Modine and Dermot Mulroney.
Josh Gad portrays Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, while Matthew Modine plays Apple CEO John Sculley, while Dermot Mulroney, who plays investor and Apple’s second CEO Mike Markkula.
The film is currently shooting on location in San Francisco and Los Angeles after international rights were sold by Inferno at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Director Joshua Michael Stern is working from an original screenplay by Matt Whiteley, while producer Mark Hulme is hoping to release the film in US cinemas this winter, with a UK release following spring 2013.
The film is an exploration of the digital visionary’s battles with personal issues prior to the successes and triumphs of later life, which lead to a revolution in the way we interact with technology.
It looks likely jObS will have to bear comparisons to the Aaron Sorkin adapted dramatic interpretation of Steve Jobs’ life, which is currently being produced by Sony.
