Lady Gaga joins Charlie Sheen and Mel Gibson in Rodriguez’s Machete sequel

Lady Gaga will star as La Chameleón in Robert Ridriguez's new film

Lady Gaga will make her acting debut opposite Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen in Robert Rodriguez’s new thriller Machete Kills.

The 26-year-old pop singer, fashion icon and LGBT advocate confirmed via her twitter account she had been cast in Rodriguez’s follow up to the 2010 action movie Machete as La Chameleón.

No further details of Gaga’s alter-ego have been revealed, but Rodriguez also used the social media site to say Gaga “kicked so much ass” during the shoot of Machete Kills.

The appearance of Rodriguez Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta who, under the guide of Lady Gaga, has become one of the most celebrated pop artists in the world, will not be the only intriguing spectacle in the film.

She will star opposite Charlie Sheen, who infamously seemed to break-down via a series of high-profile interviews early last year before breaking cable TV viewing figures with his latest sit-com Anger Management. He will play the president of the United States in Machete Kills.

If that wasn’t enough, the former Lethal Weapon actor Mel Gibson, who has struggled for roles since his latest antisemitic outburst, plays eccentric billionaire arms dealer Luther Voz.

While Gaga insists she is making her debut as an actress in the film, she is credited on IMDB as an “Alien on TV monitors” in Barry Sonnenfeld’s recent Men in Black 3.

Danny Trejo is to reprise his role as blade-wielding Mexican Federale Machete Cortez, while Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Jessica Alba, Michele Rodriguez and Vanessa Hudgens will also co-star.
