Project Pinewood refused planning permission
Pinewood Shepperton plc today expressed their disappointment at the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government’s decision to refuse planning permission for Project Pinewood, a £200 million development for the studios which would have included replicas sets of cities like New York, Paris and Venice.
The refusal follows protests from local residents, who feared plans for additional housing on the expanded area would lead to increased traffic and damage to the surrounding green belt.
The studios group will now continue to implement its master planning consents at Pinewood and Shepperton studios and pursue its international strategy of developing studios overseas.
The announcement saw shares in Pinewood Shepperton fall by 6% according to The Guardian.
