Fuji Shorts competition
My week ended on something of a hectic note last week, as I was hauling boxes of magazines round various film studios on the rim of London (our new issue came out last week). Therefore my newly-toned arms have only just got round to typing this, but I went over to the MPC in Wardour Street late last week for the Fuji Short Film awards.
Now, as you can imagine, many short films cross the movieScope desks, and the majority of them are really good. Likewise, we attend a lot of festivals and have even been known to judge the odd competition ourselves. However, I can honestly say that the quality of the short films in this competition really blew me away. Details of the shortlist can be found on the Fuji website, and if you can get hold of any of the films then I would really urge you to have a look. I know that you can watch BITTER on the Playstation Shoot microsite, and was pleased to see that it made it, as I interviewed its directors late last year.
Not only were the films brilliantly directed, acted and produced, but the cinematography really made me look at Fuji in a new light. If I were a DoP, I would certainly be checking out their catalogue right now.
Based on the success of this competition, I have to assume that they’ll be running it again, so keep checking their website for further details. I’ll be announcing it here too.
